Classical antiquity is noted for the invention of literary genres. Work Package 2 focuses on important literary and artistic innovations, the invention of new forms of literature and art, and their—sometimes problematic—relation to pre-existing models. In particular, we study examples of alleged or perceived ‘beginnings’, and their potential as anchoring devices.
